Energy Audits
Energy Audits in accordance with AS3598 are a good way for organisations to assess the energy use within the facilities or fleet, whilst identify opportunities for improvement. Elecseed Australia both manages and delivers Energy Audits to support energy reduction strategies
The current standard is a series of standards focused on three particular economic sectors:
- 3598.1 Energy audits – Commercial buildings
- 3598.2 Energy audits – Industrial and related activities
- 3598.3 Energy audits – Transport related activities
In accordance with the standard there are three types, simply names Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3.
Type 1 audits are basic in style, and provide a quantitative overview of energy use and performance, identifying opportunities that are both low in cost, or have no cost at all. These audits generally provide an indicative cost using benchmarking and available data and a simple short-term return on investment.
Type 2 audits are more detailed, providing assessments of the site energy usage and a more comprehensive study of the cost saving options and profile. This is a useful audit when there is some understanding of sustainable solutions energy reduction opportunities.
Type 3 audits are a detailed study and analysis of energy usage, identifying savings that realised as well as the capital cost. These typically are wider, with metering, fleet data or facility data logging required.
